Indo fried rice
Had to do a leap year post! If you’re anywhere near Orange County, you should definitely give Chapter One: the Modern Local (Santa Ana, CA) a try. Couple of things from our visit:
+ Potato pear: mashed potatoes with a crunchy skin, in the shape of a pear
+ Duck fat fries: yeah, can I get a tub of duck fat to go? couldn’t stop eating them
+ Seared duck breast: seared with the skin on, the meat remained tender without the slightest hint of dryness. each piece, a perfect balance of protein and fat
+ It was OC Restaurant Week! Appetizer, entree, dessert and a drink (including specialty beers and alcoholic drinks) for $30, though judging from the pictures, you might be able to tell that we ordered two additional appetizers (we be fat, don’t hate)
- Though the service itself is attentive (refilling drinks, clearing tables), the food is a little on the slow side coming out of the kitchen
Peking duck (gotta get some of that crunchy skin) in a tortilla with some green onions, complimented with Hoison and Sriracha
